Welcome to our ICBRKR Extraordinaires Series, where we periodically highlight one extraordinary ICBRKR. Our community is our backbone, and we’re proud to bring together such a passionate and engaging group of people. ICBRKR: MEET YOUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY. ⚡️
This week, we introduce you to Fellow Foodie, Music Lover and Global Explorer, Alidad Moghaddam. Tech exec by day and deep house DJ by night, Alidad is the epitome of an ICBRKR Extraordinaire. To top it off, he’s one of the music curators for ICBRKR Presents: Cocktails & Candy Canes, an intimate event we’re hosting in London to raise money for a good cause this Christmas. Get to know Alidad better below and join us this Saturday, December 14th to support Crisis in their quest to end homelessness.
Alidad, you have quite an impressive profile! How did you get to where you are now, and what inspires you to do it?
I work in tech as an executive, an investor and an advisor. I love the creativity and pace of innovation in the industry. I’m currently part of the executive team at Trainline, where I run our international business and global customer acquisition. I also advise and invest in various early stage tech start-ups.
Outside of tech, I am also involved in the arts and music. I recently joined the Board of Trustees at Rambert, one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies, and I’ve been moonlighting as a DJ for more than a decade.
Amazing! How multi-talented of you. How did you get into music and the arts?
I come from a very musical family, so it’s played an important part in my life since a young age. Since my teenage years, I often used to be the designated “DJ” at house parties, playing music from mix tapes, CDs and iPods. Eventually when I was living in New York, two of my close friends bought me my first mixing console so I could learn how to mix properly. One thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I was playing gigs and events in all sorts of fun places around the world, from London to Burning Man.
What’s your favorite song?
Hard to pick just one, but lately I’m really enjoying Ludovico Einaudi’s Una Mattina remixed by Fabian Krooss.
So good. And music is a great way to build community, which is central to the ICBRKR mission. What does community mean to you?
A true community is a safe environment where people with shared values and interests can come together regardless of background to support each other and contribute to the collective by sharing different perspectives, ideas and experiences.
Amen. How do you think ICBRKR fits into that?
ICBRKR has grown into a great platform for a diverse group of like-minded individuals from all over the world with shared interests to connect and share ideas and experiences.
OK, a few quick-fire questions: favorite food?
Home-cooked Persian food.
Tokyo. The minute you arrive you feel transported to a different world. The city is buzzing with energy and activity, yet people are extremely courteous and welcoming. The culinary scene is out of this world, and there is so much to learn and absorb about their beautiful customs and culture. And if you feel like escaping city life, the majestic Mount Fuji and the ryokans of Hakone are only an hour away.
Chocolate… every day.
Thanks, Alidad, we’ve loved getting to know you better. Looking forward to hearing you DJ at our upcoming Cocktails & Candy Canes event on Saturday!
