ICBRKR EXTRAORDINAIRES: Meet Neel van Lierop, Entrepreneur & Spiritual Motivator
Welcome to our ICBRKR Extraordinaires Series, where we periodically highlight one extraordinary ICBRKR. Our community is our backbone, and we’re proud to bring together such a passionate and engaging group of people. ICBRKR: MEET YOUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY. ⚡️
This week, we introduce you to Fellow Foodie and Urban Explorer, Neel van Lierop. Feeling bored of her lifestyle in fashion and advertising, Neel made a spiritual and practical change and created Inner Compass cards. These 49 cards are designed for self-reflection and personal growth, and come in a stunning deck you can’t help but admire. Meet Neel and pick your own Inner Compass cards this Thursday in London, where Neel is hosting one of ICBRKR’s Post-Work Conversations on how to adjust to life after quitting your corporate job. Get to know her below and RSVP in the ICBRKR app to attend on September 26th.
Neel, you’re the powerhouse woman behind Inner Compass Cards. Tell us more about what they are and what inspired you to create them?
For over a decade, I was searching for something greater than myself to help me through difficult times and decisions. While searching internally, I conducted my own research externally, exploring different types of yoga, meditation, diet, immersing myself in nature and ceremonies.
After my first plant medicine experience, I began downloading the words and visuals that would develop into the cards. By activating philosophy, science, psychology and the natural world, and fusing it with spiritual wisdoms of Mayan, Taoism, Buddhism, and the I Ching, I created 49 Inner Compass cards. By arranging and categorizing these sources along a specific algorithm, one card contains many levels of depth and interconnectedness, helping to guide each being on their life’s journey.
What inspired me? I was shuffling old-fashioned, esoteric angels cards, when I realised how much they helped me integrate change in my life. As if thunder hit me, I suddenly knew that I was going to use the concept of cards to inspire others to grow with cards too. I received a vision with a stunningly designed box shining on top of table books.
They are beautiful, indeed. Speaking of visually pleasing, we love your Instagram profile, @innercompasscards. Are you an artist as well?
Aren’t we all artists?! I used to work in fashion and interior design as a stylist. However I am not a designer, so I co-created the images of the cards with a professional designer.
What do you like most about ICBRKR?
We live in an expansive world and with modern technology, everyone is connected. My vision and inspiration behind the cards came from this type of interconnectedness and we all are genetic extensions of those who came before us – connection is instrumental to growth. It’s always better to grow together.
As a Fellow Foodie and Urban Explorer, what is your favorite food and city in the world?
My favorite food is Israeli food, and my favorite city is Amsterdam, my home town. The more I travel, the better. I see the beauty in every layer of the culture and city that I am part of.
Last but not least, what is your guilty pleasure?
I’ve decided to try to not feel guilty about anything. It isn’t always easy, but I aim to live and love freely; to find and strip away the armour I built as protection around me.
That’s beautiful. Thank you for opening up to us, Neel! We can’t wait to experience the Inner Compass magic at ICBRKR’s Post-Work Conversations this week.
Use ICBRKR to connect with Neel and other extraordinaires in LA, New York, London, and around the world. If you think you, or a fellow ICBRKR friend, make for the perfect feature, hit us up at firstname.lastname@example.org!
