Spring cleaning for your health

A common misconception is that one must detox or go on a cleanse for a week to lose weight and feel better. Springtime tends to really bring up these feelings. But the truth is you can be cleansing every day! There is no perfect diet, cleanse or detox, and without proper support or knowledge on what type of cleansing, detox or diet you decide to put yourself on you can stand the risk of doing more damage than good. 

Real fruits and vegetables on the daily keep your body naturally cleansing. This is the key to great skin, your perfect weight, and overall wellbeing. So today I would like to share 3 foods and tips that you can start incorporating on the daily. 


1. Start your day with warm water and lemon. Most of us tend to go straight to a cup of coffee when we get out of bed. While I am not against coffee, it is too acidic and stimulating to start your day with. Instead first sip on a cup of warm water with lemon, to help flush out toxins your liver was processing all night. This will also help encourage more water throughout the day. After your cup of warm water with lemon and breakfast then its time for coffee. 


2. Add in at the least 2-3 servings of leafy greens a day. Leafy greens such as Spinach, kale, arugula, butter lettuce, swiss chard, collard greens, are all loaded with fiber, and vitamins to keep your body naturally cleansing. They help feed your body with the nutrients it needs to eliminate toxins and waste on a daily basis. They also provide good bacteria for the gut to help support your digestive system. So for glowing skin, a flat tummy, your ideal weight, health, and happiness, eat your greens! 


3. Make sure you are getting enough fiber. Fiber helps regulate your blood sugar, which is important for your hormonal health, and aid in proper digestion (goodbye bloat, + constipation). Plant-based fiber is found in lentils, black beans, Brussel sprouts, peas, broccoli, and oatmeal to name a few. So make sure you include plant-based fiber into your daily eating. 


Overall filling your day with real fruits and vegetables, reducing or eliminating packaged goods is the key to health and well being. Start by adding in fruits and vegetables one by one to notice the difference and build up a healthy routine!
